Project: Perceived effects of marijuana and alcohol on sexual behavior

Contact: Robert Cook

Although public health communications often focus on causal effects of alcohol and drug use on risky sexual behavior, the link between these behaviors may not be unidirectional. This research concerns the perception of people who use alcohol or marijuana and who engage in risky sexual behavior. Specifically, perceptions of positive and negative aspects of substance use are examined, as are lay theories of the causal relationship between substance use and risky sexual behavior.
